S.A. Laughlin was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  She raised her family and then attended  Capital University where she got a degree in Criminal Justice and History.  She became a police officer, and after a year on patrol  she was assigned as a Child and Elderly abuse investigator.  She became a State Certified Child Abuse and Domestic Violence instructor to inform police officer of the new facts and laws in dealing with Child Abuse and Domestic Violence. 

She used to read only mystery novels until a fellow police officer gave her the Hobbit, by J.R.R.Tolkien to read, and after that she was 'hooked' on Science Fantasy books.

She lives in Northern Ohio with her sister, Sandra, and her hobbies are writing, reading, painting and walking.
